Wait Til I Get My Money Right...

I'm not sure if I'd classify myself as a shopaholic per se... but something about new items with attractive packaging ALWAYS lure me in. Now that I'm a statistic within the realms of the unemployed; I-want-EVERYTHING. Just today I see that tickets go on sale for my favorite artist (Erykah Badu) tomorrow and I'd be lying if I stated that I'm not going lol. Plus, my girl crush (Rhianna) is performing in April and I want to be somewhere in the vicinity. I wish I could say that my list of 'wants' stop there at entertainment but I cant.

Just yesterday, I saw a new comforter set that would be perfect for the King and I. It's mint green, ruffled and has a sequin accent pillow. Let's not even mention the fact that my part time job (which happens to be my only job at the moment) is in the mall; and I literally have to force myself to stay within the 4 corners of the store. I mean the smell of the food, the sale signs, and those freaking coupons have me feeling like Pookie from New Jack City; they just keep calling me.

I could go on and on, however I won't. This time is teaching me that less is more, work with what you have, save for a rainy day and any other one of those sayings that signify you're broke lol. But wait, just wait til I get my money right!!!

Encourage Yourself!!!

                                                                                                                                via

I promise you guys that this will not turn into an employment or better yet an unemployment blog lol. Luckily, I'm a lifestyle blogger which means I am not limited on what I can speak about. With that being said, losing my job has been a bit discouraging. Sometimes I cry for no reason, or maybe there is a reason... I'm jobless, feel as if I don't have a sense of security, etc. Honestly, I am afraid of the unknown. I know that my previous job wasn't my career per se; but I am afraid of not being in control, especially that which concerns my finances, afraid that I may just have to ask someone for help. Although I haven't been in this particular situation before, I have been in several other situations where I absolutely had no control of the outcome. I can recount many a times where I had to lean not on my own understanding, but to something greater than that. I had to truly place my faith in the one above and trust totally, that everything was meant for my good even when it seemed sooo bad. And at times, when I didn't have anyone to talk to (by choice) I simply had to encourage myself.

I haven't yet responded to the uplifting comments left on the post where I disclosed I was laid off, but I am grateful for the kind words and encouragement (and yes I'm going to respond after this, lol). A few of you reading this may be in the same situation that I'm in, laid off; or you may be in another situation where you feel afraid, lonely, or simply discouraged. For me, inspirational music always lifts my spirit so I wanted to leave you with a few songs to encourage yourself.

1. Encourage Yourself- Donald Lawrence
2. Smile- Kirk Franklin
3. Turning Around For Me- VaShaun Mitchell
4. Be Still- Yolanda Adams
5. God Believes In You- Ted Winn
6. That's When He Blessed Me- LA Mass Choir
7. The Best Is Yet To Come- Donald Lawence
8. It's About Time For A Miracle- Beverly Crawford
9. Jesus Will- Anita Wilson
10. The Best Is Yet To Come- Bishop Paul Morton
11. What's Coming Is Better- Deon Kipping

I hope those songs help you out a bit. In regard to my job loss I've been doing a prayer recipe from the Prayer Cookbook. If your interested in it send me you e-mail address and I'll send it to you. Be encouraged!!!

Finding a job has become my job...

                                                                                                                               via

Can I just say I hate looking for a job. Don't get me wrong, I know exactly what I have to do (to get a job); apply, apply, apply. In a perfect world (that which exists only in my head) jobs would just fall from above like manna and bestow the perfect occupation upon us. I mean... my job right now is applying to jobs. And yes, it is definitely a job. You may ask, 'why am I complaining'. I don't that I don't have to deal with traffic, can actually work in my pj's, and I even have the luxury of starting and ending when I like. However, I feel like I type the same thing over and over again. I mean isn't there some sort of universal system that can assist with the same repetitive generic questions? Or why have an option to upload a resume and not have an auto-fill option? Why even ask my ethnicity, race, or gender if I don't really have to disclose it? *Heavy Sigh* The joys of finding a job, and the search continues...

When One Door Closes...

                                                                                                         via

A week ago today, I became a statistic. Yes, I received the white envelope and I was told that my job after 4 1/2 years was over. Just like that, I was laid off. The moment was very bittersweet. I worked in a position for 3 plus years and disliked every.moment.of.it. However, I'd rather be employed looking for employment, than unemployed looking for employment.

I am sooo unsure of my next move. I worked a job for sooo long  knowing that it would not evolve into a career with a 401K or tuition reimbursement. I am now praying for direction because I honestly have no clue. My lease is up in about 3 months so I am totally open to the idea of relocating. I am also flirting with the idea of finishing my Master's but then again a part of me isn't really into that either. I wish there was just an easy button I could press that would just make everything better in that area *heavy sigh*. Please look forward to more post on operation find me a job career. And if you're reading this and you happen to be a career coach please inbox me.

Luckily, I have my side hustle and was able to pick up more hours there. Hopefully this break will also allow me to blog a bit more (I'd be happy if that became my job #writethevision).
