25 Random Things

So I'm jumping on the bandwagon and putting down my 25 most randon things, so here goes:

1. I hate when I go to the restroom in public places(primarily work) and there are empty stalls but people decide to choose a stall directly beside me, I'm like WTF, all of those empty stalls, and your first thought is to be next to me while you piss!!! That totally aggravates me!!!

2. I hate BITCHASSNESS!!! As soon as I get an inkling of this from a guy its over!!!

3. When I'm out and someone coughs but doesn't cover their mouth, I immediately say uuughh (loud, but not ghetto), and I turn and walk the other way.

4. I always wished I was a 'daddy's girl'. I grew up with my grandparents and my grandaddy did a wonderful job of taking care/spoilng me; I just wish I could have shared that same experience with my biological father.

5. I get turned on when guys (that I like, of course) wear cologne that smells good!!!

6. I like to approach guys, or flirt with them just enough for them to ask me out. You can kind of say I'm the aggressor.

7. I have a fear of being abducted. I always try to let someone know my whereabouts, even though I don't want anyone in my business (lol).

8. It takes a long time for me to truly like someone and even longer to get over someone.

9. My first impression to others, come off as 'stuck-up'. I believe its because in the beginning I'm quiet (peeping out the sceen), but as soon as I open my mouth I hear... "You're cool, I never thought you would act this way".

10. I like using my punctuation in 3's.

11. I hate polish on my nails, its just uuugh cause my real nails are so long.

12. I love the smell of new things, especially leather and plastic. I love going into Payless just to smell the shoes.

13. I wish I was a personal shopper (like my full time job). I can shop for anyone just let me know your style and its on!!!

14. I'm very selfish with my time... I don't really like going out anywhere on Friday's that's my night to stalk you-tubers, what can I say, I like me.

15. I hate domestic activities

16. I sleep with a lot of things on my bed,  magazines, make-up, hangers, etc. (can you tell I don't have a man).

17. I think I can get whatever I want, maybe not when I want it, but trust, I'll have it!!! God say's ask and you'll receive!!!

18. I have a lot of talents (very creative), but I rarely use them.

19. I have expensive taste, however my pockets haven't gotten the memo.

20. I am the oldest out of my siblings, most people think I'm an only child, not sure why.

21. Out of my friends I'm the meanest. I ain't a killa but don't push me.

22. I love love love old people.

23. I wish I could go back in time so that I could be with all of my family members again.

24. I live a lot in my mind, I think and re-think things a lot.

25. I have code language with my friends. EXAMPLE:  'Evil twin' is someone that looks like a person, but the ugly version.

Act Like a Man Think Like a Lady

I am sooo happy that I just received my new Steve Harvey book. I am such a fan of Mr. Harvey's work and listen to him every morning on my commute to work. This book has been highly anticipated by my friends and I. Each morning after Shirley Strawberry reads the Strawberry letter, Steve come back with his male perspective. It seems like each morning I learn more and more about my 'non-existent' relationships with guys from him.

I actually tried to leave work last Friday to go to Steve's book signing in Md. (and I hate driving). There were sooo many people lined around the Borders store, but I figure hey its Steve Harvey, so let me get in line as well. Let's just say, a looong line, cold weather, and no books (meaning they were all sold out) meant I had to leave and return home without a signed copy. I tried to get the book from my local bookstore but it was sold out there as well, so I ended up ordering it from Amazon, for only $13.19 and $17.18 with shipping.

I have not begin reading the book as of yet but I will definitely fill you in with my review. You can get yours here.

The Black History spotlight of the evening... Mr. Steve Harvey

Open Apology

This blog is dedicated to my baby Lyric (on the right). So I get the bright idea, or maybe not so bright idea, to get another dog. I know what you're thinking... for who, for what, when, and why? Well, the reason why I even entertained the idea is because some of my friends and family members wanted to breed their dog, considering mine is fixed. Plus someone I know, had a family member that wanted to give the dog away... free. So I'm thinking, 'a pure bred dog, for free, I'm all over it'. I did ask for a pic of the dog so I could get an idea of what it looked like, however I never received it.

So I o to get the dog today, and all of the signs were there screaming LEAVE THE DOG!!! Nonetheless, I took the dog and the echoing in my mind became more and more prevalent...
*the dog was matted
*needed its nails clipped horribly
*had on a f'n baby pamper (who the hell puts a pamper on a dog that's not on its cycle)
*hadn't had recent shots
*too active (my dog and I both are chill, lazy in other words)
*didn't have its papers (stating it was a pure bred)

I know you're like why the hell did you take it, and I'm still kicking myself for that sh*t!!! So I'm about 10 mins. away from the woman's house on 395 like I ain't gonna be able to handle this. so I call my friend who gave me the so-called 'hookup' and tell her to tell her aunt I was bringing the dog back. She spoke with her aunt, and this heffa was like I couldn't bring the dog back and was being totally unreasonable. WTF... I'm like ok, I'll try to find some alternative methods for the dog (trying to be politically correct, before I became niggarish). To make a long story short, there were no shelters open to take in any dogs. I even rolled my window down to see if some random white woman with a dog, wanted another dog, that failed. I didn't just stop there, I went into Petco to see if anyone just wanted a free dog. As you can guess, no one did. By this time, I had an exorcist moment. I just knew my head had spun around and I turned into the other side of my Gemini sign.

I really tried to be reasonable and come up with alternative methods for the dog, considering its previous owner was being a jackas*. So I did the only thing I knew to do. I took the dog back to its previous neighborhood... let's just say the dog is no longer with me. Tomorrow I will fulfill the rest of my civic duty by dropping the dogs belongings at the Goodwill.

To my sweet, fashionable, loving dog, who's attitude and personality, which reflects mine oh so well... I AM SORRY, FOR EVEN ENTERTAINING THAT FUCKERY, LET ALONE GOING THROUGH WITH IT!!!

In the end, the lesson learned was one that I already knew... YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET (no more hook-ups for me).

Where Yo Boss At???

I really thought that I would be spending today at someone's Superbowl Party, however I had a fuckery-filled evening!!! So I'm basically watching Superbowl 43 at home alone, its all good, I don't really like the game, but the players are another story altogether!!! That being said, I'm rooting for the Steelers (insert cheering), but not because of a certain player, but because of a certain coach... MIKE TOMLIN!!!

Stated earlier, I'm nooo football fan, but I'm definitely a fan of the boss!!! I remember my first time seeing him (last season) and I was like OMG, he is sooo FINE, and reminds me of Omar Epps!!! So to kick off Black History Month/Year (cause ya'll know this is our time to shine) a little more info on Mike.

Mike Tomlin (born March 15, 1972) is an American football head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. Tomlin is the third youngest head coach in any of the four major North American professional sports. He is the tenth African-Americanhead coach in NFL history, and first in Steelers history. Tomlin is the third African-American head coach and, with the Steelers' victory in the AFC Championship Game on January 18, 2009, became the youngest head coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl.

Playing career
Tomlin attended Denbigh High School in Newport NewsVirginia, and was a three-year starter at wide receiver/tight end for the College of William and Mary. He finished his career with a school-record 20 touchdown catches. He was a second-team All-Yankee Conference selection in 1994. Tomlin never played in the NFL.

Coaching career
College
Tomlin's coaching career began in 1995 as the wide receiver coach at Virginia Military Institute under current West Virginia Universityhead coach Bill Stewart. He spent the 1996 season as a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis, where he worked with the defensive backs and special teams.

Following a brief stint on the University of Tennessee at Martin's coaching staff, Tomlin was hired by Arkansas State University in 1997 to coach its defensive backs. Tomlin stayed there for two seasons, before being hired as defensive backs coach by the University of Cincinnati.

National Football League

Assistant Coach

Tomlin was hired as the defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2001, where he first learned the Tampa 2 defense that he would use in later coaching jobs.

In 2002 and 2005, the Buccaneers led the NFL in total defense (fewest yards allowed per game)—during Tomlin's tenure, the defense never ranked worse than sixth overall. When the Buccaneers won Super Bowl XXXVII in January 2003, the team recorded five interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns.

Tomlin was selected by Vikings' head coach Brad Childress to be his defensive coordinator in 2006. Two of the players on the Vikings were older than Tomlin, and Tomlin had been a teammate of Vikings' safety Darren Sharper at William and Mary. The 2006 Vikings finished with the NFL's eighth-best overall defense, but had the unusual distinction of finishing as the top-ranked defense against the run, and the worst-ranked defense against the pass.

Head Coach

Tomlin became the Steelers head coach on January 22, 2007, when he was hired to replace Bill Cowher, who resigned after spending 15 years with the team. Tomlin had also interviewed for the head coaching vacancy with the Miami Dolphins, which eventually was given to Cam Cameron.

Tomlin joined Cowher, who was hired at age 34 in 1992, and Chuck Noll, who was hired at age 37 in 1969, as Steelers' head coaches who were hired in their 30s.

Tomlin is the tenth African-American head coach in NFL history and the first in Steelers franchise history. Steelers owner Dan Rooney has served as the head of the NFL's diversity committee and proposed the Rooney Rule, requiring that teams interview minority candidates when selecting a head coach. Tomlin's ascension to an NFL head coaching job has been cited as evidence of the rule working as intended.

Terms of Tomlin's contract have not been released officially. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports a four-year deal ($2.5M each year) with an option for a fifth year. He is the third consecutive Steeler coach to win his first game, and the first head coach in Steeler history to win his first contest against the rival Cleveland Browns.

In a stark contrast to Bill Cowher, who only retained longtime running backs coach Dick Hoak from Chuck Noll's staff (Hoak himself retired just before Cowher's resignation), Tomlin did retain many of Cowher's assistants, most notably defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau despite his contrasting defensive philosophy with Tomlin. This was done in order to keep team chemistry with the players, since the team was only one year removed from a Super Bowl win at the time of Tomlin's hiring. The Steelers finished Tomlin's first season as head coach with the top-ranked defense in the NFL. Tomlin led the Steelers to the 2007 AFC North Division championship and a 10-6 record in his first year as head coach. The Steelers lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Jacksonville Jaguars 29-31. Tomlin began his career with a 15–7 record in regular season play—as did his predecessor Cowher and all-time win-leader Don Shula. Tomlin set a Steelers record for most wins, after winning 22 games in his first two seasons as head coach; in addition he became the first Steelers coach to win division titles in his first two seasons.

With the victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008 AFC Championship Game, Mike Tomlin is the youngest NFL Head Coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl. He is also the third African-American to coach a team into the Super Bowl, joining Chicago's Lovie Smith and IndianapolisTony Dungy—the two opposing coaches in Super Bowl XLI. On January 29, 2009, Mike Tomlin was named the 2008 Motorola NFL Coach of the Year.

Personal

Tomlin is the younger of two sons; his brother, Eddie, is three and a half years older. Their father, Ed Tomlin, played football at Hampton Institute in the 1960s and was drafted by theBaltimore Colts. He later played for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League. Tomlin's mother, Julia, married Leslie Copeland, a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service, in 1980.

Tomlin met his wife, Kiya Winston, while they were students at The College of William & Mary, where Tomlin majored in sociology. He graduated in 1995. They have three children: sons Michael Dean, born in 2001, and Mason, born in 2002; and a daughter, Harlyn Quinn, born in 2006. Tomlin is a Spring 1991 initiate and charter member of the Xi Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., The College of William & Mary.

Makes Me Wanna Holla

As a child growing up in Ga., I longed for snow. But now as a single adult in the DMV... I HATE SNOW. I either need to be married or shacking with someone's son (LOL) to deal with this weather. *Note to self... during increment weather a boyfriend is necessary* So tonight I had to get out and scrape the snow off my car, trying to get an early start on tomorrow. I hope and pray I don't have to work tomorrow, its supposed to freeze tonight!!!

Happy New Year

So we're 10 days into the New Year and what a better time to role out my Goals, not resolutions. I actually came up with them on the 1st, but as you know Mr. Procrastination got the best of me!!! I think I came up with a very good list, I'm over that hump (25) and have got to start thinking about my future. So here they go (in no particular order):

*Have a Relationship- I'm getting a little older and the biological clock is beginning to tick, so I need to date with a purpose. I think I'm ready to take the guard down and have a meaningful relationship with someone, a relationship with the ability to grow into more.

*Stop cursing/cussing- Enough said... I  really, really, tried but I can't imagine not using my favorite words or phrases. I think I'll try to say them less frequently unless its just pure fuckery, LOL!!!

*Start a career- Since college I've merely had jobs, in a nutshell working to pay the bills but no real interest. I should be teaching (I've dedicated a post to this) ... something, or a maybe a trainer for a company. I need the ability to have variety, color, and especially PAID TIME OFF, I'm talking summers!!!

*Become active in my Sorority- I really, really, miss this... SISTERHOOD IS ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA. I will take all of the steps to become active, meet sorors in my area, and become more involved in community service.

*Become HAPPIER in general- learning NOT TO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. Time brings about change, and change brings about growth.

*Get magazine subscriptions- I spend way too much money buying off the stands, I've given myself a limit of 5 subscriptions. Anything that doesn't arrive by mail, I will have to read in the bookstore or at the nail shop.

*Read a book each month- I love reading and I have soooo many books I've yet to complete. So maybe I can tackle one a month and do some type of review.

*Get out- Become more comfortable with the area as well as my surroundings and do more. Find the social butterfly I left in Ga.

*Get my credit in check- SELF EXPLANATORY

*Find a church I can grow in- I think this is one of my main reasons for not being happy in Va. I need to find a church I enjoy and can grow in.

My Favorite Things

My Favorite Things- Anita Baker: reminds me of candy land, like everything is just pretty, whimsical, fruity smells, bright colors. The song just puts me in a happy mood. I add to my favorite things all the time, but those that are constant are:
*Hello Kitty (can't wait for the Mac edition)
*Vanilla scented candles, perfume
*Live music (especially when I get to rock the mic)

But right now I think my favorite thing is MAKEUP !!! I am sooo obsessed with it, I spend countless hours watching youtube videos, trying to try out the 'new best thing'. Right now I'm jumping on the MUFE HD, I tried it on a second time (because I forgot my number, 170) and absolutely LOVED it!!! It was so light, and when I compared a pic of it to my Mac, the coverage seemed airbrushed.

My next favorite thing would be MAKEUP BRUSHES, you can't have one without the other!!! I definitely wouldn't mind having the Mac brushes but they are sooo expensive!!! I don't mind trying dupes but there are some which are just  'must haves'. I really wanted the Holiday makeup brushes from Costco (the white set, just in case you wanted to gift them) and tried to go get them on a 'day pass'. Get this the company doesn't do 'day passes' anymore, and was like the membership was $50, of course this was a WTF moment because the brushes are only $20. So oh well on that... for now.

If anyone knows of any dupe for great brushes or new makeup, let me know!!!

Christmas Just Ain't Christmas...

So today is the first day of a month that every kid is  sure to be excited about. I'm not a big fan of Holiday's well... up until about 3 years ago I totally was (another story for another day). However I am a definite fan of Christmas music!!! I've waited 11 whole months to pull out my Christmas c.d's and just play them. Its a shame its not a year round sound!!! So for the next 25 days I will be posting on a title of my favorite songs (if the PROCRASTINATION bug does not kick in).

Since my "another story for another day" ties into the title, I may as well speak on that. The song by The O'Jay's goes.. Christmas just ain't Christmas without the ones you love. That speaks volumes to my overall opinion of Holidays. Up until 3 years ago I loved to be home for the Holidays, spending time with my family, laughing, eating, and just having a good time. But three years ago I had 3 deaths in my immediate family which were back to back (in 10 months). That pretty much took its effect on me and... things were just different, a home full of laughter, love, warmth; would sometimes become a quiet, cold house. I remember not wanting to go home for Christmas in '05 because I had taken my Grandfather's death really, really bad to the point of an internal breakdown. But I felt the constant urge of something/someone pushing me to go ahead and be with my family, that was also the last Christmas my moma and I would ever spend together.

Three years later and I am so far removed from anything that resembles... Holiday Cheer (now that may not be the word I need to use but, you get the picture). I don't know if I need divine intervention from Denzel's character in The Preacher's Wife or what? Holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas if I didn't make any prior obligations I would really just stay in bed and sulk. It's like I put myself in this tiny box so that I don't... feel. To those of you that know me personally, I am not depressed or anything, I'm sure new memories will come and give me back the Holiday Cheer I once had, this is just my personal outlook.

Christmas just ain't Christmas,
Without the one you love,
New Years just ain't New Years,
Without the one you love

P.S- Really though, when you listen to the song it has a crunk beat where you actually can't be sad!!!

Still Here

Hello to all in the blogosphere, I have definitely been missing in action and wanting to blog soooo bad but.... I"M A PROCRASTINATOR :-(    I've actually written up soooo many blogs (which I still plan on posting) but laziness or whatever you call it have gotten the best of me. I know what's been going on with you (yep, I've been stalking), so here's what's up with me:

1. I'm officially obsessed with President-elect Barack Obama, not just the political side but his personal life, etc. dates with wife, children, mother-in-law... its pretty serious!!! Each day I realize "My President is black" it makes me more and more happy!!!

2. Wanted to give the hair a break, so I got braids (individuals which stop right before my butt), let me just say these are not micros and this crap is HEAVY. But, I promised (insert side-eye) my beautician I would keep them for a month at least.   *NOTE TO SELF* NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER  get extensions this long, it is soooo not me, way to much work!!!

3. I'm officially obsessed with You Tubers who do makeup tutorials, each and everyday I'm rushing home to see who's uploaded something new. Now I want to and will create some of their looks... however, makeup is soooo freaking expensive, even some of the drugstore makeup. I really don't know how they do it, but I guess you have to start your collection somewhere. Who knows, maybe I'll appear on the tube someday!!!

4. I've found two new favorite shows to replace Army Wives and Atlanta Housewives. Drumroll please... one is Dexter on showtime, it is soooo suspensful. My co-workers actually put me on this and over the weekend I watched about 3 episodes back to back, and loving it!!! The second is a reality show (just can't get enough) Ruby on Style network, its about this obese woman who's desperately trying to loose weight, a matter of life and death. If you get a chance, check them both out. Now you all know I'm a fan of Keyshia Cole's reality show, but seriously, I think this should be the last season, there's only soooo much drama until you're like enough fuckery already.

5. Saved the best for last!!! I'm seriously contemplating moving back to Ga. and soon. I moved to Va. for a change, and after being here for a year I've experienced it. I actually spend a lot of my time and money on trips to Ga. because that's where all of my family and friends are. I feel like I don't have a career established here and I really miss living on my own. If I had a better position (more money and something I like), I would stay. The only thing I would would really, really miss are the malls. I like metro D.C, but I'm a southern girl at heart and there's nothing like the A (Atlanta).

I really plan on blogging on a regular, this is definitely an outlet for me and I truly miss it, I just have to work on my awful habit... PROCRASTINATION!!!

Best of fall, or so I thought

It is my favorite time of year, season to be exact... fall. The way the crisp air hits your face but not strong enough to send a chill through your body, the scatter of brown/orange leaves across the pavement, and knowing that my favorite holiday is at the end of this month. I wish I could spend this month basking in the season, but NO this month is dedicated to Heidi.

I never knew what it meant to be grown until Heidi came into my life. Heidi is my 2 year old Honda Accord Coupe. Along with Heidi came car payments, insurance, and maintenance (really not really). I am almost pulling out my hair with these fees, this month alone I have:
*Gas (a given)
*Inspection
*County Sticker
*Renew my tag
*Two front tires
*Alignment
*Citation (I really thought that would disappear)

Fall, or the month of October would feel so much better if my load were lighter and I could focus on new boots and accessories, I digress.
